Alice Mary Smith was the first British woman composer we know of who not only wrote symphonies, but had one of them professionally performed during her lifetime.  Her second symphony was originally written for a competition, but the composer withdrew it before the event.  All her works remained in manuscript and it is only recently that real interest has been shown in her output.

This new edition presents Smith score as it was written and editorial intervention has been kept to only what is necessary unlike some other editions that have rewritten her work to enhance for example, the period orchestration.

A set of orchestral parts is also available under FMP 11112601 as well as a large B4 size score under FMP 10112601b4
