Franz Schubert Erlkönig for high voice and cello octet (G minor) Full Score and parts
Schubert composed Erlkönig when he was 18 years old setting Goethe's poem of the same name. It is a narrative poem with four different characters which relates the story of a ghostly, but deadly Erl King pursuit of a young sick boy.
This new arrangement was original made for the Rio Cello Encounter in 1998 as part of that year's celebration of Schubert's works for the cello and his chamber compositions.
